Hello New Mexico and Arizona
So after traveling through Texas we planned the next stop in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I so loved this place.
Santa Fe has the highest altitude in New Mexico at 6,998 feet above sea level and we felt it. It can make you light headed and/or sick. We checked in at Santa Fe Skies RV Park that gave us beautiful view of Santa Fe and the Sanger de Crista Mountains. The park was a gallery in itself full of numerous ,beautiful sculptures by a local Santa Fe artist, scattered all around. It was a really nice place with the added bonus of a spacious, clean dog park for the dogs.
We spent several days exploring the city. My favorite was Canyon Road, a half mile stretch road of over a hundred art gallery’s, boutiques, and restaurants, which i was told that 90 of those were fine art gallery’s. It made my heart happy to visit one after the other. I am fortunate that Bobby enjoys the art as much as I do!
We also visited the town plaza with its beautiful buildings. We loved looking at all of the lovely hand made jewelry, arts and crafts. We ate a delicious dinner and spent and afternoon at the Georgia Okeefee museum.
The weather was perfect except for a couple of strong storms that included pea size hail! No damage.
From Santa Fe we moved on to Albuquerque spending the night at a Harvest Host Brewery…good food and a good boondocking stay.
Moving on to Arizona with another surprise storm while driving, as we topped a hill all I could see was white! What? Snow? NO, another hail storm! That was interesting driving this monster. But all was well, just slow. A couple of more night stops including the Dancing Eagle RV Park and Casino (don’t ask) and a Walmart stay over. Oh yes, a really hard hail storm with larger than pea size hail, more like little marbles…no damage, but really, what is with all these hail storms?
So, now we are in Arizona or Rt 89 a beautiful drive with access to the Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce Canyon and many others. We are slowly making our way through. We chose to skip the Grand Canyon this trip since we have been there a few times before to make time for the ones we haven’t seen.
In a couple of days in Utah, we will be meeting up with our friends that some of you know also, Chuck and Linda Milne driving up from their home in Las Vegas to hang out with us a few days! Really looking forward to seeing them…it has been awhile!
We truly appreciate your messages, good wishes and prayers!
Until next time….Beni and Bobby
