So It Begins…The Big Move
So, it has now been five weeks since we moved into or forty foot diesel pusher, lovingly called “Dreamer” that will be called home for the next 6 months to a year. We will be Washington bound where we are looking forward to live the next chapter of our lives near our son and daughter in law.
It is super hard to leave a place that has been home for our entire lives. It is hard to leave our friends, art community, music community, church family and all of life’s familiar things and places, but we know in our hearts we are doing the right thing. So… if you so feel compelled, I invite you to follow our journey here with us as I attempt to keep a blog of what it takes to make such a gigantic and difficult move, particularly at this later time in life.
Though we have done some long term “road living”, its been awhile. This time it is getting real. We had to make a decision of what we really need and what will fit into the designated spaces that Dreamer has to offer. Everything else is in a shipping container that will be delivered to Washington ahead of us.
Along with our limited belongings we have with us our two Dobermans, Leia and Lily and Rosie our sweet tiny poodle.
It has been an interesting start. We weren’t quite prepared for the house to sell so quickly so it was A LOT of hard, exhausting work getting everything packed and out. Leia went into heat, and I had a two week trip planned since last year and we did not have a complete plan on where we were going to spend the next few months.
We spent the first week at Little Beaver Lake (really nice campground) but had to leave because they were booked up. Next stop, Greenbrier River where our generous cousin Dana has had open arms (and yard) to let us park.
After my two weeks trip in Italy (I really did feel bad about leaving) on return Dreamer was needing some attention and we moved to Pipestem State Park to regroup, where I am writing from now.
Our plan and first stop on this journey will be Big Stone Gap, VA where we will spend the month of November with my sister. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and all will go well. We will be staying in a year round campground but cold weather brings it’s issues regardless.
My intention with this blog is to journal our trip as I learned in the past that traveling this way your days run together, you sometimes forget where you have been, what you did, and where your headed!

I love you both so much. I hope you guys will consider a stay over at our home on your way south.
ReplyDeleteDreamer ? What a perfect name, will be following you two.
